How can a freelancer find more work and generate new client leads?  This is one of the top questions that I receive so, I decided to write up a few tips and tricks of the trade to help you guys and gals out!  Falcon is excited to announce the beginning of a new series on ‘How to Get More Freelance Work’.  Every week I will be posting various ideas, ranging from ones that only take a few seconds to those taking a few days to implement.  Even if you are an experienced freelancer, you will be sure to find plenty of ideas that you never thought of.  There is something for everyone to try- Check it out!

Spread The News

• Send out emails to everyone in your address book explaining what you have to offer and where you are located
• Ask family and friends to help spread the word about your services
• Referrals are an excellent way to obtain more work- ask your satisfied customers/clients for some
• Offer a free consultation to new referrals
• Consider offering a referral/finders’ fee (it will be worth it)

Don’t Forget The Clients

• Anytime you have a new service to offer, get in touch with past/current clients
• Email signatures are a great way to advertise- Take advantage of every outgoing email and utilize it as a marketing tool for your services
• Start a newsletter
• Every time that you send out an invoice, send promotional material along with it
• Ask your clients to place a credit on your work in web, print or video
• Constant reminders are always an excellent marketing tool- make up a calendar, featuring your work, for clients to tack up on their office walls
• Make a poster and send it over to your clients to put in their lobby’s/ waiting rooms/ conference rooms
